Recently, you've heard a lot about the effort to secure additional conservation dollars for our region's farmers in this year's federal Farm Bill.
Well, here's the good news: Your strong work and action is making a difference!
The House of Representatives has passed the Farm Bill and included more than $500 million to support conservation efforts in the Bay states. That is unprecedented, and a big step towards restoring Pennsylvania's rivers and streams and the Chesapeake Bay.
But we can't start celebrating yet....we need Senators Spector and Casey to fully support the effort as it comes to a vote in the Senate. Easch Senator has received numerous calls and letters about the issues; now it's time to get creative! We want to help them SEE the Bay, our rivers and streams, through photographs - taken by you and showcasing how much each of us care abou the health of our watersheds and the health of agriculture.
So, please take time today to upload a photo of your favorite waterway or farm with a personalized message to your Senators! We'll print your photo and your message onto a postcard and mail it to them. Photos will help ensure tht the Senate's version of the federal Farm bill includes an increase of at least $100 million more per year for conservation programs in the Bay states. Support our Farmers! Protect our rivers! Save the Bay!
Your card will help send a clear message: The health of the Bay and it's rivers and streams is a stake, and they should continue to fight for conservation programs in the Farm Bill.
Thank you for y our support as we make important strides to clean our rivers, streams, and the Chesapeake Bay. For more information on the Farm Bill, please visit cbf.org/farmbill.
